SCOTLAND SINGS AT OCEAN TERMINAL
Musical waves will be hitting the shores of Ocean Terminal on Sunday 1 December as 100-strong contemporary choir; InChorus performs as part of the ‘Scotland Sings’ weekend.
With a musical repertoire that includes the likes of Katy Perry's 'Roar' and 'Firework', Pink's 'Just Give Me a Reason', David Guetta's 'Titanium, Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know' and Jessie J's 'Price Tag', there’s sure to be one hit that gets your toes tapping! InChorus also sings songs and 'mash ups' by Queen, Take That, The Police and many many more.
‘Scotland Sings’ is a Hands Up for Trad project, designed to bring new participants and audiences together through singing. Events are planned to take place across Scotland as part of St Andrew's Day celebrations from 29 November – 1 December. InChorus will be singing live in the Ocean Kitchen area of Ocean Terminal in a free exclusive performance on Sunday 1 December from 1 pm. Please come along and join in the musical fun!
InChorus will be collecting money for charity too - each year they collect for four charities, splitting the amount raised equally at the end of the year. This year they are collecting for Autism Treatment Trust, Changing Faces, MacMillan Cancer Support and the MacFarlane Hall Roof Repair Fund. The last one being the hall where they rehearse!
Background on IChorus:
InChorus was founded in September 2008 in Peebles. Local musician Andrew Russel encouraged the community to form a modern choir singing contemporary music. 97 people turned up to the opening rehearsal, and the choir remains over 100-strong today with Andrew as Musical Director. Almost all the pieces performed by the choir are his own arrangements.
The singers represent all ages and backgrounds, and joined for many different reasons. In its first five years the choir has transformed from ‘a group of people interested in singing’ into a powerful choir capable of entertaining a broad range of audiences. They rehearse in Peebles every week and have a number of notable performances to their name. For more information, visit www.inchorus.org.uk
