The kids are back to school this week, so we bet it’s been all about getting those white shirts pristine for the new term! And that got us thinking about white shirts, adult-sized.
The white shirt is a classic wardrobe staple. Everyone should have at least one in their closet. So, here are ten of our favourite white shirts for the new season.
First up, it’s this classic, timeless and ever so chic collarless bib shirt from GAP. It’s just so adaptable- wear it with jeans at the weekend, with a suit for a relaxed work look, or with capri pants and a contrasting jacket to take it straight from office to bar
Maybe you prefer a collar, on a classic work shirt, with three-quarter sleeves, like this no-frills number from BHS?
We love the playful mixed button element to White Stuff’s simplest of white shirts.
Not a shirt, but a white blouse (trust us, they will be HUGE this coming autumn/winter), and a beautiful, simple, wide structured number from Louche @ JOY. Note the longer back than front – this is another trend for this winter – look out for it.
French Connection’s huge oversized shirt brings the late 80s and early 90s right into 2015 for this winter’s key look. Team with jeans or leggings and heels, and not much else for a pared down 90s look, or add some wild accessories for an 80s vibe.
Also at French Connection, a cute silk shirt with a quirky split back detail. Perfect evening shirt with black cigarette pants.
GAP’s poplin shirt is a classic work shirt – if you need to wear one for the office, you can’t go wring with this.
BHS’s simple linen mix shirt, with no collar, is perfect casual weekend wear.
Back to the blouse-trend, and this 1970s inspired chiffon and lace number from H&M is just crying out for flared jeans, platform sandals, and a floppy hat.
If you are buying one blouse this season, make it a Victorian/1970s/lace style. Sounds odd, but this is THE shape and fabric for the season. Team with flares or a denim skirt for a great 1970s meets Victoriana look. This one, from Red Herring @ Debenhams, is perfect.
