It is technically still summer – even though it doesn’t look or feel anything like it. So, let’s just escape into autumn/winter for a while with some new season trends. Are you with us?
We love a new fashion season. Time to embrace new styles, buy some new clothes, and get ready for a new season bring super stylish. Who needs summer, right?
So, we’ve had a little look at the new season trends for this autumn/winter and are bringing you our super seven – the new season trends we reckon will be the most popular, and are the most wearable. They are the 1970s, Glitz and Glitter, Granny’s Curtains, Op-Pop Pop Art, Victoriana Noir, Faux fur, Geeky Margot Tenenbaum. Don’t worry, we’ll explain all!
Let’s start with the 1970s. This one has been around since spring, but will come into its own this autumn/winter in a big way. Think flares, big cardigans, ponchos, capes, hats, cord, patterned dresses, fringing, platforms, and much more. Channel Ali McGraw in Love Story, and Faye Dunaway in Network. We love this, it might be our very favourite of the new season trends.

Glitz and Glamour – this is an easy one. With a nod to the 1970s (a lot of the trends have the 1970s at their heart), think sequins, lurex, metallic threads, metallic shoes, and proper glitzy, glittery party looks. There’s just a hint of this trend coming into stores soon, but it will be HUGE come the festive season, trust us.

Granny’s curtains. Yep, we said Granny’s curtains. The most oddly named of the new season trends, but how else do we describe this? Big, bold, opulent, patterns. Like flock wallpaper, like, well, granny’s curtains. Wear your prints and patterns big and bold.
So, hands up who has seen cult movie The Royal Tenenbaums. Possibly Gwyneth Paltrow’s finest moments on screen, DEFINITELY her best fashion moments. Margot Tenenbaum is geek chic, preppy, retro, crazy, fabulous style, and you need to channel her this season, trust us! Think tweeds, printed dresses with loafers or brogues; capes, pussy bow blouses, hats and fur.
