Ruffles and Pleats

It’s all about texture this season, fashion fans. think lots of different textural effects on fabrics – mainly ruffles and pleats.

Ruffles and pleats are actually easy to wear. They add character and and edge to simple garments, and they also hide a multitude of sins, if you want to hide them.

Let’s start with pleats and this floaty, two-tone dress from Dorothy Perkins @ BHS (£45). Floaty, it will look great with heels and a jacket, or flats and a floppy hat.

AW15 textures

Autumn Winter fashion is just THE BEST. Yeah, summer’s all very well, but let’s be honest, in this country we get much more wear out of our Autumn/Winter wardrobe, agreed? And, it’s full of the loveliest textures ever. Yep, we are all about the textures in this post. Think fur, leather, sequins, wool, and much more.

Textures give our Autumn/Winter wardrobes that cosy depth that we all desire when the nights get shorter and the temperatures drop.

This season, mix your textures – create outfits full of 3-D textural magic that people will not only marvel at but will actually Want. To. Touch. (Which might be a bit creepy, granted…)

So, textures – which textures? How about the most luxurious of them all, leather? Or fake leather, which is perfect on a budget. Mix your leather with wool, add some fun accessories, create colour palettes in autumnal colours, and don’t be afraid to flaunt your textures.

Textures for AW15 oneClockwise, from top left: Faux leather burgundy dress, £38, BHS, faux leather leggings, £60, French Connection, patent leather trousers, £149.99, Studio @ H&M, patchwork leather skirt, £55, ‘suedette’  wrap skirt, £28, BHS, leather and suede skirt, £79.99, H&M, glitter heel ankle boots, £44.99, New Look, pom pom cap, £14.99, H&M

Winter coats in mixed textures are the perfect way to indulge in this sort of autumnal dressing. And we love the idea of a woolen biker jacket, a reversible pile coat, and thos big old fake fur collars.
