Easy Summer Style

It’s lovely all this sunny, proper summer weather, but it’s quite hard to dress for, agreed? Well, er, no. It’s actually pretty simple to get easy summer style if you just follow a few rules.

Last night on a walk through the park, temperatures at about 26 degrees Celcius, I spotted more than a few pairs of black opaque tights, and jeans. No! Enough of this stupidity. This is not any sort of summer style, never mind easy summer style.

You don’t have to bare all your flesh when the sun comes out! if you don’t love your legs, and don’t want then on display, black tights are not going to cut it in the summer months. You’ll just overheat, and feel, and look, ridiculous.

Easy summer style designed to cover legs comes in the shape of a maxi dress or skirt, or wide-legged loose, comfortable trousers.

Team your maxi skirt with a free-flowing top, add some simple sandals and a sloucy bag, and bingo – easy summer style achieved!

If you do want to show off your legs, then try some short shorts, and go for your easy summer style with a festival vibe. Add a slouchy vest in a bold colour, and a kimono – a huge summer trend this year. Embellished sandals make this outfit a day through to night option.

Jumpsuits and playsuits are excellent easy summer style. They are SO comfortable! Go for a wide-legged jumpsuit for cover and comfort. Add a rucksack and a floppy hat for a slouchy summer look.

Sunglasses Edit

The sun is being a bit of a tease at the moment – out one day, then firmly hidden the next. But that shouldn’t stop you buying some new sunglasses.

Hey, the sun might come out if she likes the look of those new sunglasses, sunnies, shades, whatever you want to call them.

Some of you may like to spend a lot on designer sunglasses, others may have prescription ones. But if you are a bit of a sunglasses obsessive – and a loser of them – like me, you may want to indulge in more than one pair from the high street.

Sunglasses trends come and go, but this year it seems to be a mish-mash of all sorts. There is a step away from the HUGE over-sized 1970s style sunnies, as loved by Victoria Beckham, and a move towards smaller lenses, and bigger, plastic frames. Raybans, 1980s style are popular, as are Aviators, and retro 1950s style cat’s eye frames.

Novelty sunglasses are great for a laugh, but if you want to wear something bold all day, we suggest a bright, neon frame, or a coloured lens. Heart shaped, pink and animal print. round and neon – you choose, it’s all out there!

The retro Cat’s Eye frame is huge this summer. You don’t have to take it one step further and add ears! But you can if you want…
