It’s not spring, we know that, but in the shops, and in our fashion-filled minds, it is the spring season and it’s time for a spring outfit style injection, agreed?
We’re fed-up of this windy, rainy, cold weather. We’be had enough of Storm Jonas, thanks, and hopefully we won’t be seeing whoever is next in the storm alphabet for a while.
Okay, it is only January, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have our spring outfit shopping list written, at least in our head, if not on paper.
To help you do the same, and get some relief from horrible old winter, we’ve scoured the stores, for spring outfit style.
Let’s start with H&M, who are channeling that very Parisian ‘effortless’ chic this season. it’s simple, pared down style, with little quirks. We love it. Team a cute denim mini (£14.99), with a cold-shoulder top (£12.99) (bare shoulders are in, or out, actually, this season), and add a cute hat (£9.99), ankle boots (£24.99), a fringed bag (£19.99) and some round sunnies (£14.99) for this sort of 90s indie inspired laidback style.
At JOY we’re channeling a sort of 1980s vibe, in a very quirky beatnik way, with their brilliant print culottes (£35) and matching shirt (£39). This matchy-matchy trend shows no signs of going anywhere, so embrace it. Look like an extra from an 80s pop video in this look by just adding heavy black sunnies (£9), and some pumps (£33).
At BHS, inject a bot of Victoriana into your spring outfit with this delightful blouse (£24). Team with a suedette skirt (£30). Suede is huge this season, as we hold on to that 1970s vibe. A fringed shopper (£59) works with this look, adding a 70s touch to the Victoriana vibe. Snakeprint will be everywhere, indulge it a little here on these cute sandals (£26). Oh, and big 70s sunnies (£15) finish this look.
Florals are a big spring trend this year. This outfit at French Connection will see you out of winter and into the first throes of springtime. Just take off your tights when the sun shines! This fab dress (£95) is a modern take on a floral print, all fabulously abstract. Make it edgy with shoes (£88) with a bit of a chunky heel and some attitude, and a big old leather shopper (£110).
Denim is big this season. We’ve already discussed this, and we’ll no doubt return to it time and time again in the next few months. Where better to find a denim-led spring outfit than GAP? This simple shirt dress (£44.95) is so good, we just can’t. For work, for weekends, for parties. Perfect. Go double denim with a simple jacket (£54.95) in a lighter wash. And then add a canvas bag (£16.95) in complementary navy, and some clogs (£54.95). We LOVE the clogs.
White is here to stay. Go the whole way at Debenhams with a complete white spring outfit. beautiful, fresh and perfect for this season. This J by jasper Conran dress (£75) has great cut-put detailing. Layer white on white with this Betty Jackson.Black jacket (£79). Accessorize in white with a tote bag (£37.50) from Principles by Ben De Lisi, sunnies (£16) from Floozie by FrostFrench, and cut out pumps from Mantaray (£18).
Finally, moving on from just white, add black and you have monochrome – another spring trend to watch. Get the look at New Look with this excellent geo-print dress (£24.99). Add a simple black jacket (£22.99), some cool courts (£19.99), and a white clutch (£9.99) for a sophisticated look.
