Sports Luxe is one of those trends which seems to pop up every now and then in fashion. But how do you wear it? What is it?! With the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this summer, we thought we’d explore the sports luxe trend and show you how to wear it to the best effect.
The first thing to remember about sports luxe is that it’s not sportswear – not as you know it. A velour tracksuit and hi-tops is not part of this trend, okay? This is not the look Sporty Spice, er, sported, okay?
The ‘luxe’ part is important. Think metallics, silky fabrics, and luxurious dressing – with a sports twist.
So, silky track pant trousers and heels, bomber jackets, running shorts in luxe fabrics, textures of leather, sequins, silk.
This season’s bombers are an integral part of this look. Pastel shades work well in sports luxe. If you want to wear flats, make them low platform sandals for a tiny bit of height.
Silky fabrics look great for the sports luxe look. Visors add a bit of fun. And the bag of choice is the 1990s inspired backpack, of course!
Bodycon dresses, with sports-band style patterns are a simple way to buy into the sports luxe trend. It’s like track wear for clubbing.
For a simple sports luxe look team a pencil skirt, like this zipped one, with a simple sweat top, and some killer, sports luxe-style heels. Or mix up a sweat top with running style shorts with a lace trim twist.
A bold pencil skirt, with ‘ugly’ shoes, a contrasting bucket bag, and a vest with a strappy nod to track wear is the perfect way to nod at the sports luxe trend subtly.
Track pants and shorts – the key pieces – but in silks, cottons, prints, metallics and more. The perfect sports luxe starter!
