If you want fashion forward shoes, get down to Schuh! Why? Because the Scottish footwear retailer were named Scottish Retailer of the year at the Scottish Fashion Awards, which took place in London last week. It’s about time we got to announce ‘Schuh win Scottish Fashion Award’, don’t you think?
PR Manager, Lucy West, was there to receive the award at Dover House.
“It’s an honour for schuh to be awarded ‘Best Scottish Retailer’ at the prestigious Scottish Fashion Awards,” said Lucy. “As a business, schuh is extremely proud of it’s Scottish roots and it was a great accolade to receive amongst our industry peers.
“We always strive to bring the best fashion footwear and quality service to our customers, and this recognition is further encouragement for us to do even better for the upcoming new year.”
Schuh opened its doors for the first time in 1981 in Edinburgh’s North Bridge Arcade with a simple philosophy – to provide aspirational but accessible fashion footwear.
The store was unique in its time; and exciting retail environment, and I spent plenty days in there lusting after the quirky shoes! Who in Edinburgh doesn’t remember their first visit to a branch of Schuh?
Since 1981, the brand has grown and grown, and its sale to the publicly traded American company Genesco Inc in 2011 allowed even more growth. Last year Schuh delivered record breaking sales figures and opened 16 new stores, as well as launching new concepts, including opening three kids standalone stores, launching a new tablet site, and launching a French version of the website.
If you want excellent own brand Schuh designs, and access to some amazing footwear brands, then Schuh is the place to go!
The Scottish Fashion Awards are in their eighth year this year and reward excellence in all fields of fashion each year. “The Scottish Fashion Awards are now a globally recognised event which acknowledges the finest fashion design, creative and textile talents we have
in Scotland and indeed working around the world,” says founder, Tessa Hartmann.
“It’s incredible to think how much the event has grown in just eight years and we were very proud this year to celebrate the achievements of all the nominees in the
magnificent Dover House.”
