So, are you ready for a Sex and the City The Movie – number 3? Well, it might be happening. After the second movie, we’re not sure it’s the best idea ever, but we’re pretty sure we’d watch it – for the fashion alone, if nothing else.
Sarah Jessica Parker, or Carrie Bradshaw as wewill forever think of her, started the latest rumours herself this week when she posted this picture on her Instagram page with a cryptic message.
“Well. I guess the cat’s out of the (little brown) bag. As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I’m under strict gag order until then. XX, Sj”, was the message under the snap of her in a white dress, gold courts, sunglasses and a Bloomingdale’s Medium Brown Bag.
Not sure if this was a Carrie Bradshaw outfit, but it didn’t look like SJP just out shopping, did it?
Back last October, SPJ and co-star Kristin Davies (the lovely Charlotte) had a bit of a telling Twitter convo: “You hear the news?” said SJP, and Kristin responded, “You let me know when we can celebrate.”
So, will Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha be returning to the big screen again? Regardless of how we feel about it, we’ve come over all nostalgic for the Sex and the City style (mainly Carrie Bradshaw style, of course, but we know you might like the others more), and here’s our take on how to get the style of each of these iconic characters, if you so wish.
Let’s start with Carrie Bradshaw style, of course! Eclectic, on-trend, fashion-forward, Carrie Bradshaw style was responsible for changing the way ALL women dressed, we think.
She wasn’t afraid to push fashion boundaries, mix it up, wear things that perhaps we had never dreamed of wearing together.
We love Carrie Bradshaw style, and it’s so easy to get. Carrie loved the quirkiest dress in the shop, the latest on-trend pieces – flared jeans would definitely be on her shopping list this summer – with fun, mis-matched accessories. Think bold prints, luxe fabrics, mixed with simple stripe Tees. That’s Carrie.

Now, if Carrie Bradshaw style is eclectic, then Miranda Hobbes style is the opposite. Miranda had the classic New York working woman wardrobe, particularly in the early days. Suits and shirts, and no doubt trainers on the way to the office! Her look softened and glammed up as time progressed. Loose kimono style jackets would be a big hit with Miranda we feel, as well as little quirky touches – white brogues, or fringed sandals, and some floral prints or patterns – that’s out there for Miranda!

Samantha Jones. PR guru, sexual adventurer, and all round good time gal. Samantha’s style reflected her big and bold personality. Bold colours, clever cuts, and killer accessories. Samantha was as eclectic as Carrie in her own way, but there was nothing boho going on here. Think clean lines, big statement pieces, and her own version of power dressing. Oh, and a lot of white.

Finally, Charlotte York. Upper East Side girl, with a penchant for the finer, more delicate things in life, Charlotte was the Audrey Hepburn of the show, with a little more twee thrown in at times. 1950s style dresses, cutesy cardigans, pretty florals – that’s the Charlotte look to perfection. And the obligatory pearls!
