Ruffles and frills

Ruffles and frills. Think late 1970s/early 1980s for this trend which will be everywhere this coming autumn – trust us. Ruffles are easiest to wear on tops – dressed up with a killer skirt or dressed down with dungarees or denims.

Ruffles can be big and bold (we think that’s the best way to wear them, to be honest), or you can go smaller for a more subtle frilly look.

Let’s start now, with some summer ruffles. We adore this simple, striped top with lovely frills from H&M (£14.99). It’s very 1980s Princess Diana, no? Wear it with a denim mini or your dunagrees for laid back summer style.

New Look’s deep green top (£17.99) has a New Romantic 1980s feel to it – we love this colour, just autumnal perfection, but also great for showing off that holiday tan.

Spring trends top ten

It’s officially spring. Actually, it’s officially British Summer Time, but let’s not get too excited. Last time we stepped outside it was freezing. But…there’s no time like the present to get your wardrobe prepped for the warmer days.

So, we’re talking spring trends today – and our top ten. The spring trends we think you will want to indulge in, and those you should start bringing into your outfits now.

1.Orange

It’s bold, it’s bright, and it’s everywhere. We’re told orange is a difficult colour to wear, but we say it’s how you wear it that counts. It’s the boldest of spring trends to embrace, and we reckon it looks at its very best on a bright orange dress. If a small splash of orange suits you better, try  simple top. It looks brilliant on holiday, with a sunshine glow.

2.Denim

Denim is a safe fallback – we all have our favourite pair of jeans. But branch out with your denim this season – try a denim shirt, or playsuit, or skirt, as well as your classic jeans and jackets. And step out of your skinnies – try some on-trend flares!

3. Ruffles

Ruffles are a wee bit awkward, but they don’t need to be huge. Go big if you like, or just embrace a simple little ruffle on a sleeve, or a bikini.
