Pretty Pastels

Every spring, pretty pastels hit the stores – and why not? They’re deliciously springlike, mirroring the cute spring flowers that are peeping through, and that whole Easter vibe we’ve got going on.

Easter was way early this year, so we’re early with these gorgeous pretty pastels too. Those weddings you have to attend might be a few months off yet, but there’s no harm in looking at outfits and/or accessories.

Adding a little pretty pastel colour to your wardrobe gets you in the springtime mood, even if you aren’t really there yet!

Of course this year’s Pantone Color of the Year is actually two pastels – rose quartz, a pink, and serenity, a pale blue.

They’re classic gender specific, ‘baby’ colours, but we love them both on adults. Pastel pink is not for everyone. It can be hard, but it does suit most skintones and hair colours – redheads look fantastic in pastel pink with bold red lips. Trust us!

Pastel blue is a cool colour, but works brilliantly with all skintones – it has endless versatility – team it with other pastels, darker shades of blue, bold red lips, denim and more. We love it.

Maye pink and blue are the predictable spring pastels, and you prefer to stand out a bit more. Then perhaps pastel mint green is for you. Lovely with denim, perfect with white, black and grey, it’s a classy shade.

Or, maybe you want to have fun with pastel yellow? The cutest of the spring pastels, yellow pastel shades are all a little different from the palest of lemon yellows to those getting near that bolder, yellow edge of the colour rainbow. Wearing any yellow brings instant spring sunshine to your life, right?

Rose Quartz Serenity from Pantone for 2016

Every year, Pantone choose a Coloiur of the Year. This year, however, for the first time ever, they’ve chosen TWO colours. Rose Quartz and Serenity are the shades, blending togerher berautifully to give you a rose quartz serenity palette.

Pantone’s reason for choosing this rose quartz serenity blend?

“As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent.

“Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

So, the Pantone Color of the Year is this rose quartz serenity blend, which is, essentially, a palette of baby blue and pastel pink.

We love them, they do feel like calming shades to us, and we can’t wait to start mixing and matching these gorgeous colours come next year.

So, here’s a sneak peek at a few rose quartz serenity items coming soon!
