Heard of the colour, Radiant Orchid before? Well, you will this year. Radiant Orchid is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2014. Shade 18-3224 , according to Pantone, “blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.”
Sounds lovely! So, are you ready to embrace Radiant Orchid in your clothes? Is this a fashion friendly colour? It’s kind of a deep lilac – or a pale purple – depends which way you look at it. It’s not an easy colour to wear, and it’s slowly filtering into stores.
Let’s be honest, it’s going to be pretty tricky to find true Radiant Orchid pieces, unless you paint them, as Pantone have done, in this fantastic montage on their UK website. Check back throughout the year for more like this, each month.
So, when it comes to fashion, best to think lilac and purple, and you are pretty much there. If wearing a black of that colour just isn’t your thing, try floral patterns with lilac backgrounds. Lilac and grey is a well-worn colour mix, and deep purple, teamed with lighter shades looks great.
If you really don’t want to embrace this shade outdoors, how about a Radiant Orchid dressing gown?!
