Paddington Style! That’s what we’re talking about this week, with the new Paddington The Movie opening at cinemas this Friday (November 28).
Michael Bond’s 1958 creation has stood the test of time, perhaps thanks in part to his famous duffle coat and welly boots!
If you came to London from the jungles of deepest, darkest, Peru, you’d be glad of a duffle coat and Wellington boots as well.
Paddington style is perfect for winter, and perfect for all of us – men, women and children!
Starring Hugh Bonneville from Downton Abbey, Nicole Kidman, Sally Hawkins, Peter Capaldi and more, Paddington the Movie is a re-imagining of the original tales, which were first adapted for the screen – the small version – in 1975.
Paddington favours a royal blue duffle coat and red Wellington boots these days, and who are we to disagree with the bear’s fashion sense? He was gifted his Wellington boots in 1964, but it’s his duffle coat we know him best by.
And, if you have a kid, you can dress them as Paddington in this Limited Edition Gloverall Paddington blue duffle coat. It’s £99, with £50 from each sale going to the NSPCC
* Duffle refers to the fabric, Duffel, named after the town of Duffel, in Belgium, where it originates
* Original duffle coats are tartan lined
*They were very popular with the British Royal Navy
* A firm called Gloverall has been making coats since 1954
So, how about some Paddington style of your own? Duffle coats come in varying styles, shapes and colours, and fabrics these days. Get some Paddington style in a checked, fur trimmed version, or a bold red, or perhaps a deep bottle green is more your thing?
