It was acceptable in the, er, 90s! Yep, forget the 80s, and the 70s, we’re now far enough away from them to me be channeling the 1990s in fashion.
But what were the 90s all about? What is 90s style? Well, we think it can be split into three main trends. So, this is 90s style for 2016 – three ways.
The 90s style we’re bringing to you is 90s grunge, 90s street, and 90s minimalist.
Lets start with classic 90s grunge. Time to channel your inner Courtney Love and team slip dresses (or actual slips) with oversized cardigans – preferably from the menswear department – check shirts, chunky footwear and maybe a tiara or two. Oversized jumoer dresses are also great – even better with the old pull here and there!
Oh,and a denim jacket, to tie it all together, of course,

If that’s not your thing, then the polar opposite is 90s minimalist. Honed to perfection by those 90s supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington ,Linda Evangelista and more, this is simple, pared down, laidback, easy, effortless dressing at its best. Classic 90s style. Think draped jackets and tops, simple slip dresses, minimal accessories, flat shoes, and neutral colours.
Oh yeah, and the ubiquitous 90s body.

Finally, 90s street. In the 90s hip hop and rap was just starting to break through to the mainstream music scene. Street wear was 90s style at its coolest. Think Soul II Soul, Run DMC, and more, and you’re there. Sportswear, or sportswear inspired styles, trainers, crop tops, logos, prints and stripes.
