Bond Style – Weekly Wishlist

It’s almost impossible to escape a certain secret agent at the moment, right? James Bond is everywhere! The release of the latest Bond movie, Spectre, has seen the newspapers, TV, and internet flooded with everything 007.

So, if you can’t beat them join them – and the subject of our weekly wishlist is Bond style. And no, we don’t mean tuxedos! We’re taling female Bond style. Premier Bond style. Bond girl Bond style.

Gorgeous gowns for the most glamorous of occasions. Okay, we may not live life like a Bond girl, but everyone needs a gorgeous frock in their wardrobe. You never know when Bond style is needed.

So, let’s start on the top row, on the left, the most beautiful star-sequinned wrap dress/coat thing from H&M (£49.99). We love this.

Wear over a short dress, over leggings, over wide pants, just wear it! Next up is a teal and embellished classic gown from BHS (£42), and then a liquid shiny gathered dress from Debut @ Debenhams (£130) in a brilliant gunmetal shade.

Slinky? Check? Silver? Check. That’ll be this fab H&M number! (£29.99). And if you want to really dazzle then make that Bond style, red carpet dress, red! This one is from Instaglam Red Herring @ Debenhams (£70).

Weekly wishlist bond styleOn the bottom row, we’ve started with an asymmetric cobalt blue slinky number from Debut @ Debenhams (£60).

Next to that it’s a dotty black dress with a cape style top from Wallis @ BHS (£60), and then from New Look, a beautiful 1970s inspired rust coloured plunging v-neck style (£tbc). JOY’s beautiful autumnal floral print is another with 1970s inspiration (£120), and then we’re back to full on Bond style glamour with this grey and silver sequinned dress from No Jenny Packham @ Debenhams (£225).

New Look’s navy gathered number has a Grecian feel to it, and a gorgeous jewelled collar detail (£tbc). And finally, at New Look, a black and silver lurex, long-sleeved tiger print maxi we are in love with (£34.99). Let that Bond style roar!

maxi dresses – twelve dresses of Christmas

It’s never too early to start thinking about your Christmas party dress. Sequin dresses, little black dresses, floating maxi gowns, ballgowns, lace prom dresses – they’re all already on the racks, just waiting to be snapped up for the biggest party night of your year.

So, in the next few weeks, we’ll share the Twelve Dresses of Christmas. We’ve had Little Black Dresses and Sequin Dresses – this week it’s Maxi Dresses

Maxi Dresses were at their peak in the late 1960s/early 1970s – if you went to an evening event, everyone was there, dressed like Margot Leadbetter from The Good Life (Google her!). If you want authentic maxi dresses, visit the vintage shops, which are usually full of them.

But the high street is full of maxi dresses for the party season – sequinned, lace, slinky, voluminous, all colours and shapes. Just be careful with maxi dresses – if you’re short, wear them just a bit above the ankle so they don’t swamp you. And if you are on the larger side, don’t wear too much volume, it will only serve to make your silhouette even bigger.

Nude colours are a gorgeous festive alternative – for a special ball or party, go the full hog in a sparkly, sequinned, or statement dress.

Make you LBD a LONG black dress, with the pick of the black maxi dresses to choose from. It’s safe, perhaps, but elegant, sexy, classy. Black is a great colour – you are free to accessorize as much or as little as you like.
