Autumn Trends Preview

Yes, it’s July, but chances are it might be raining outside, and you might be thinking about Autumn already. So, it’s time for an autumn trends preview.

Our autumn trends preview is in the shape of a weekly wishlist – 14 items we are popping down on our autumn trends list now, to buy later. Most of these items will hit the stores around late August/early September.

But what are the autumn trends you should be looking for? There are a few in particular that stand out. One of those is fashion perennial, leopard print. No longer thought of as brassy or cheap, leopard print is a fashionista musthave, and our tip for this coming autumn season is to wear it in coat-form.

So, trust us, leopard print coats will be everywhere. But it also looks fab on dresses and accessories too. Another big one of the autumn trends we love is ruffles. They previewed in the spring, but this winter, they’re everywhere, and look fab on knitwear. Plaids and checks are big, as is embellishment and metallics.

Dunagrees will still be on-trend for another season at least – they look fab with roll neck sweaters and high neck blouses.

And our other big ‘trend to watch’ for this autumn is velvet. Velvet EVERYTHING! From coats, to dresses, to tops, to boots, to shoes!

The Animal Print Shirt – Three Ways

In this little blog series, we’re going to take an Autumn Winter trend, and show you how to wear it  – three ways. This week, the animal print shirt.

Three ways the animal print shirt

Being on trend is all very well, but getting more wear out of your on-trend piece is better. Its all about being clever with the pieces you buy, and seeing how they can be adapted for various occasions. This week, the animal print shirt – for a business trip,  Sunday lunch down the pub, or a fashion bloggers event.

This is how we would style this zebra print animal print shirt from H&M  (£12.99) for those three occasions.

1. Sunday Lunch Down The Pub

three ways animal print shirt pubIt’s Sunday, so keep everything, well, kinda slouchy, but still with a bit of fashion in there! Make a bit of an effort!  Team your animal print shirt with flared jeans, a slouchy, cosy cardigan, and add some height and a pop of colour with bold wedges. If you want to shake Sunday up a bit, add a slouchy bag, but in a contrasting animal print – like this fantastic leopard print one from Gap.

Clockwise, from left: Contrast flared jeans, £29.99, H&M, the animal print shirt, leopard print calf skin shopper, £124.95, GAP, blue wedge ankle strap heels, £19.99, New Look.
