It has a figure-hugging fit, but the frill-front is flattering to all sizes, and the shape will work wonders on curves.

Okay, it’s not exactly a pretty summer frock, but with the weather we’ve been having we’re over summer, quite frankly. What summer? That day back in May, remember?

So, this weekend, it’s time to have a little shop around of the new season stock that has landed in the stores, and pick out some fantastic pieces for teh new seaosn.

Starting with this glorious midi dress, of course. You know you want it.

Leather Trend – how to do it

This autumn winter sees a bit of a leather trend on the high street  – but don’t be afraid, and don’t despair if you think you can’t afford it – leather-look items are where it’s at.We’re not suggesting you go all out Hell’s Angel with this one – but a piece of leather here and there, or a leather-look fabric, can add an edge to an outfit, or a hint of sophistication.

It all depends on how you wear this latest leather trend. And the leather look fabrics on offer now are excellent, and more breathable than in the past.

We’d say try and keep it black. Black is most definitely back for this season – at last! Mix up your leather with black fabrics in different textures for the most on trend take  on the leather trend.

A biker jacket is a big musthave for this season. Choose from real leather, or PU (polyurethane), and go for a classic style, or something a bit more refined.

Leather-look trousers, leggings and jeggings are a great way of doing the leather trend. Team them with oversize sweaters and t-shirts for that ‘rock chick’ look. We love Julien Macdonald for Debenhams’  leather panelled trousers. And if you have great legs, try a pair of leather-look shorts – wear them with statement tights when it’s too cold for bare legs!

If you want to make a statement, go for a leather or leather-look dress. But if you want to keep it subtle, look for items with leather details on them, like this lovely Betty Jackson.Black dress with leather pocket detail. And if you can get away with it, a leather-look bustier, with a midi skirt and some chunky ankle boots is as on-trend as you can get!
