Lace is a funny one in the fashion world. It pops up now and again, but it can be difficult to get right. It looks brilliant in black, but in white can verge on bridal. Or, worse still, looking a bit like a tablecloth or curtain!
There is no escaping this lace trend this summer though, so try and embrace it.
Black lace looks brilliant in the winter, but ease up in the summer – you don’t want mistaken for a Mediterranean widow! A black cover up is a quirky piece for a wedding outfit, if you want to be a bit different. A black lace jacket will see you right through the summer to the festive season.
This year, get two trends done at once with some pastel lace. Pretty pinks, blues, mints and peaches looks excellent in lace.

Cream is great for a dress – not quite bridal territory! A simple dress with a pair of gladiator sandals makes a fab summer day outfit. A cotton shirt looks a bit more interesting with lace inserts.
A simple way to wear lace is in a top, with a pair of jeans. A shirt, a strappy top, or an insert t-shirt look great.
Lace is great for formal wear – but do be careful at weddings!

A good way of keeping the widow-look at bay, but still getting a dark lace colour, is with navy. Team with grey or cream.
