Loungewear

There’s a bit of a ‘loungewear’ trend going on at the moment, have you seen it? It’s sort of luxe sportswear meets leggings, and it’s all about comfort, as well as style.

It’s inspired by the love for everything ’90s in the fashion world right now, but it’s not full on Sporty Spice, or Geri Halliwell in her yoga phase, okay? We’re not asking you to pull your hair back in a Croydon facelift ponytail and get all Nancy from Eastenders with your wardrobe. (Thankfully!).

But, there are, well, ‘tracksuit elements’, if you will, and there’s lots of lycra, jersey and slouchy styles. This is dressed down style. Loungewear, for lounging in. And for going out in.

Kylie Jenner loves to lounge around in super-chic sweats. You can do the same in this fab star print set from New Look (£27.99).

Or perhaps this leopard print set (top, £14.99, bottoms, £12.99, both New Look) is more your pattern?

Staying at New look, take a step away from loungewear and into a more sporty arena with their 90s inspired pants and tops.

You can embrace the dress in this loungewear trend. Just make sure it’s super simple, and super comfortable, like this H&M knitted blue dress (£19.99), or BHS slouchy striped number (£20).

A 90s style short skirt and slouchy top in stripes (top, £14.99, skirt, £9.99, both H&M) make alternative loungewear.

Jumpsuits, all-in-ones, rompers – they all work brilliantly as loungewear – but please, don’t wear a onesie outside!

This pink patterned jumpsuit is summer perfection from GAP (£49.95), and their navy romper playsuit (£34.95) is a holiday musthave.

And this plum jersey jumpsuit at H&M (£12.99) will work as well with heels as sliders or sandals.

Just a Jumpsuit

The jumpsuit is definitely a fashion trend that is here to stay. Hovering around on the fringes of the staples for a good few years, it seems the jumpsuit finally has a place in your permanent wardrobe.

But which sort of jumpsuit are you going for? And where are you wearing it? Let’s be honest, there is a jumpsuit for pretty much every occasion – from a stroll in the park, to a night on the town.

The Fun jumpsuit should have a bold print, worn with bold, bright accessories, and fun shoes.

Finally, the jumpsuit was HUGE in the 1970s, and the 1970s are huge now. So, go for a sort of 70s vibe, with short printed dungarees, teamed with a simple top, a fringed bag, and wooden platforms.
