Jeans are something we all probably wear without thinking about it – but there is more to denim than just a pair of jeans you throw on. Here’s our Jeans for Genes Day denim fashion inspiration.

If it’s jeans you want, it’s jeans you should have. Skinny jeans are king of the style worls these days, try mixing it up with a high waist, embellishment, or fabric details.

Skinny may rule – but the other jean of choice for many is still the bootcut- great at balancing out a top heavy figure.

If you’re feeling brave, opt for denim dungarees, layer your denim with a denim chambray shirt, or opt for some denim hotpants – great with black opaques in the winter

Jeans for Genes T-shirt – designed in Edinburgh

Jeans for Genes Day is September 20 this year, but the official T-shirt goes on sale today – and it was designed by Edinburgh College of Art student, Milly Wood.

Jeans for Genes tshirt winning design

A competition was held to find a unique and striking design to represent Jeans for Genes Day 2013 and the winning design was chosen by a specialist Jeans for Genes Day panel, comprising of fashion experts from the UK’s leading retailers and popular style icons, including Coleen Rooney, Jaime Winston, Louise Thomson and Nick Ede.

Twenty-two year old Milly was the winner – her design drawing on the very current SS13 oriental trend whilst incorporating identical twins and the double helix that exist in genetics.

The T-shirt is £20, available from today at All proceeds from the T-Shirt will go to Genetic Disorders UK who aim to change the world for children with genetic disorders.

“The Jeans for Genes brief was exciting as it required an element of problem solving,” Milly explained. “I worked hard to come up with an innovative design that linked the subject of genetics with a striking, fashion image that would look great on a t-shirt. Winning the competition really validated the sense of achievement I felt when I completed my design, and I’m thrilled to be working with such a high-profile charity that aids an amazing cause.”

The Jeans for Genes charity has several celebrity supporters this year, including Lauren Goodger, Amy Childs, Melanie C and Michelle Keegan. To find out more visit
