Olivia Wilde H&M Conscious Exclusive lands

Back in December last year we gave you a wee sneak peek at the latest H&M Conscious Exclusive collection in collaboration with actor and humanitarian Olivia Wilde.

Now it’s set to hit stores, and online, in the next week, we thought we’d have a closer look. And wow – we love it. Olivia Wilde looks amazing in it of course, but the pieces are wearable, with an added quirkiness as well.

One stand out piece is the hand-painted wild bird print maxi dress (£149.99). It is stunning, and bound to sell-out.

There’s recycled polyester, organic linens, recycled plastics for sequins and beads, as well as leather that comes from cows that are reared for organic meat production on Swedish farms.

A favourite piece of Olivia Wilde is the kimono dress (£39.99) that is made from Tencel- a fabric made from cellulose from fast-growing trees.

“The dress drapes at the front and ties with a belt that’s almost Japanese in style. It’s got an open back and a slit in the skirt that makes it really sexy, ” says Olivia Wilde

We could all do more, but one thing you can do is indulge yourself in a gorgeous piece from this collection – even if it is just a pair of earrings. By supporting sustainable fashion, it will become more of a norm in the future, surely, rather than the rarity it is now on the high street.

The 39 year old model is known for her interest in sustainability, so is a perfect fit for the role.  H&M is continuing its commitment to more sustainable fashion with two new collections, Conscious and Conscious Exclusive,  which will be available from April 2014. Both collections will feature Amber Valletta.

This behind the scenes video offers a sneak peek at the collection, with interviews from Amber Valletta and sustainable fashion and design think tank Ever Manifesto, who are working with H&M for Spring 2014.

The Conscious collection is full of key fashion pieces, each made with materials that are more sustainable, such as organic cotton, Tencel®, hemp and recycled materials. The collection will be available in all ladieswear H&M stores, as well as online.

“I’m very excited to work with the H&M Conscious campaign, because we share the same values about sustainability. This collection shows that you can be as mindful about people and the environment as fashion conscious. I simply love the designs and the fact that all the pieces are made with organic, recycled and cellulose fabrics shows that you don’t need to compromise fashion for sustainability anymore,” says Amber Valletta.

For this year’s Conscious Exclusive collection, H&M is working in collaboration with the sustainable fashion and design think tank, Ever Manifesto, which shares H&M’s commitment to a more sustainable future for fashion.

The dramatic and intricately detailed pieces in the Conscious Exclusive collection show the amazing things that can be done with more sustainable materials, taking inspiration from a mix of flamenco and bohemia. Conscious Exclusive will be available in 150 selected H&M stores worldwide, as well as online.

“It’s great to engage with a brand like H&M that’s already aiming to lead the industry in making sustainable fashion mainstream, especially with such an elaborate and innovative collection. To be able to support their Conscious teams and to implement and inspire positive change is a really exciting experience,” say Elizabeth von Guttmann and Alexia Niedzielski from  Ever Manifesto.
