When you think about it, new year is a great time. A chance to wipe the slate clean, get fit (well, try to!), realise ambitions, and look ahead to spring summer fashion!
There is nothing better than scouring the internet, blogs, magazines, and more for a taste of spring summer fashion, when it’s pouring down or freezing outside. And, if you know what you are doing, you can cleverly invest in a few spring summer fashion trend pieces now, and be ahead of the pack when it comes time to wear them.
Here’s our guide to a few top spring summer fashion trends you should be collecting now!
Love ’em or loathe ’em, pastels will be HUGE this spring summer. Pink was a massive colour last autumn winter, so there is bound to be a lot of it about in the sales. Snap up what you can, and invest now in pieces that are already in store, that are bound to sell out fast.
Yeah, yeah, we know, florals for spring, how inspiring. One of Miranda Priestley’s true quotes in The Devil Wears Prada. Every year we get florals, it seems. THis year, they are everywhere! So buy a few pieces now, and wait until more gorgeous florals hit the stores in the next few months. Florals looks great on pastels, but equally as cool on black. A floral prom dress is a failsafe spring wedding choice.
l-r: Debut blurred floral prom dress, £40 (was £120), Debenhams, pastel culottes, £14.99, New Look, black floral dress, £19.99, H&M
3. THE MIDI SKIRT
Thankfully, this length is here to stay for another season. It’s easy to wear, is elegant, transitional from winter to spring and spring to summer (just take off those tights) and looks great with other spring summer fashion trends, like boxy jackets, bombers, and crop tops. Try it in a pastel shade, of course!
l-r: pink high waisted midi, £19 (was £62), French Connection, blue denim button through skirt, £22.99, New Look
Neon is another almost omnipresent in the fashion world these days. It’s here again for spring, and you can go the whole hog with a shirt, dress, skirt or top, or be more subtle, with jewellery, a belt, or a bag.
l-r: Neon silk shirt, £39.99, H&M, pink neon skinny belt, £4, was (£8), Red Herring @ Debenhams
5. BOXY JACKETS
If you buy on jacket this spring make it a boxy one. Choose from a bomber – a 1990s trend making a HUGE comeback for spring 2014, or a boxy more 1980s style collarless and buttonless jacket. These looks fantastic with a voluminous midi skirt, or wide leg ttrousers for a big voluminous look. Just keep your top underneath tight.
l-r: Leather and suede jacket, £129.99, H&M, floral bomber, £22.99, New Look, textured jacket, £39.99, H&M
