Wedding hats – weekly wishlist

Someone getting married? Time to get a hat! Wedding hats are on our weekly wishlist this week, as wedding season is well and truly here.

Not everyone wears wedding hats these days, but we think a wedding outfit isn’t complete without some sort of headgear. From traditional wedding hats, to something a wee bit different, fascinators or bands, just make sure when you head to that wedding, you have something on your head!

Think about the wedding – if it’s on a beach, your outfit is likely to be casual – so try a floppy hat, or a headband. If the wedding is formal, its the traditional wedding hats section for you – and the bigger the better we say – look for huge saucer styles, and intricate, unusual designs. If it’s an on-trend wedding, with hipsters aplenty, try something quirky like a cloche, perhaps.

Whatever headgear you choose, remember this piece of wedding hats etiquette – keep it on until the Mother of the Bride removes hers!

Hats – Weekly Wishlist

Hats! Who doesn’t love need a hat in the winter? But hats are not just to keep our head warm. They are an extra item of stylishness for us to show our fashion skills through, right?

Especially this season with the 1970s trend being everywhere. Floppy hats? Tick. If they don’t tickle your fancy, then try a bobble hat – make the pom-pom faux fur for extra fashion points, as you buy into the geek chic trend this season – think Gwyneth Paltrow as Margot Tenenbaum and you’ve got it.

So, our weekly wishlist this week is a round-up of a dozen of our very favourite hats in the centre’s shops right now – and if they’re not in yet, trust us, they’re on their way.

Fabulous fedoras. Now there’s a hat that’s everywhere this autumn/winter. And this aztec-trimmed burgundy number from Red herring @ Debenhams (£30) is one for your wishlist for that 1970s boho vibe you’re going for.  Or a more classic version can be found at New Look (£14.99)- black with a faux tan leather trim.

However, if it’s a true 1970s vibe you are looking for, then you need a big floppy hat to go with your flares and smock top, or your suede midi skirt. Our absolute favourite floppy so far is New Look’s perfect orange number (£14.99). Orange was THE 1970s colour. We also love the subtle grey floppy with a black faux leather trim from H&M (£19.99).

H&M have a fantastic bright red wool fedora (£24.99) with a large brim in their premium collection, and if these aren’t your style, then a cute peak felt cap (£14.99, H&M) might be.

New Look’s grey felt bucket hat (£14.99) is uber-cool, but you need to be brave to pull this one off. But go on, give it a go!

H&M’s fake suede fisherman’s hat (£12.99) is another that’s floppy and fun. If all of these aren’t up your street, then maybe fur is? Fur’s going to be huge this winter – so wear it – fake obviously – from head to toe, starting with a hat. JOY’s fake bunny fur pill box hat (£16) in brown and white looks so cosy, and there’s a dark grey version by J by Jasper Conran @ Debenhams (£25).

And you can never go wrong with a good old bobble hat. French Connection’s black bobble with a black faux fur pom-pom (£35) is casually stylish. And we adore the oversized red, white and blue pom pom on JOY’s bobble hat (£12).

Hats! Which will you choose?
