Student Fashion Musthaves

It’s that time of year again; the students are back, there are parties in your street (if you live where I do…) and a whole new batch of young freshers are ready to step into the world … and become cynical like the rest of us. Oh we jest! A whole new batch of students are ready to share their student fashion musthaves with the world – a lot of them on blogs.

We found this fab article in The Guardian, where they asked 13 fashion blogger/students to name their student fashion musthaves. Back in my day it was an oversize cardigan from the men’s department at Marks and Spencer and a pair of Doc Marten boots.

But now there are so many more student fashion musthaves. So, we’ve read through their list and here are their recommendations!

Jess, from Wolf In The City recommends the plaid shirt, and who are we to disagree on this one. Totally versatile, timeless and oh-so-student. This one’s from New Look, for £12.99.

Rosalind from Clothes, Cameras and Coffee chose a good pair of boots. And so did we – this big old chunky pair from New Look, £34.99, which will get you from lectures to lunch, to the union bar and home again.

Marcus from Sartorial Sin, reckons a well-tailored navy suit is a man’s essential in AW. If that’s what you want, then look no further than this one from H&M – trousers, £24.99 and jacket, £39.99.

Another one for the blokes, this time from fashion fresher, Aaron, who reckons black and grey will cut it for the guys this winter. That’s not exactly ground-breaking, is it? But we agree – black and grey are always good. Team bomber or biker or tailored jackets with jeans, and keep things quirky with a flat cap, perhaps?

Chloe, at Oh Chlo, kept it simple with a chunky necklace. Make it a big old gothic-y dark one for winter, like this one from New Look, £17.99

Amy, from Fashion Junkie reckons a good pair of trainers are key in your student fashion musthaves. Who are we to argue. Like Amy, we recommend Adidas, and we love the lace detail on these Superstars, £62, from Schuh

Ngoni, blogger at IAMNRC, reckons jeans are top of the student fashion musthaves list. Of course they are! And skinnies, are a staple now, not a trend. So, get yourself onto GAP before September 18, and grab a £44.95 pair for £29. Result!

Clarissa, blogger at Vintage Doll Risa, chose a statement top. Everyone needs more than one statement top, so this one, we reckon, is an everyone fashion musthave, not just on the list of student fashion musthaves, agreed?

Rachel, who pens Handbags & Cupcakes, chose a fancy satchel. Choose any satchel as a bag for your notes, and you’re there, we reckon!

Hannah, from Hannah Louise Fashion, has had her biker jacket for years! It’s a student fashion musthaves list staple. Buy one like this one from H&M, £34.99

Yep, to keep warm in that cold flat, knitwear is perenially popular with students. Jack, from Oh So Jack chose a cream waffle knit, we reckon guys will love this New Look version too, £32.99

Probably doesn’t have to be plaid, but plaid is so on trend this season – more on that later this week. Oh, yes, sorry, a dress. Phoebe, from That’s So Phoebe chose a plaid dress to wear with bare legs ankle socks and boots, and then thick tights when the weather turns. Great shout on the student fashion musthaves list. This one’s from New Look, £24.99

Last, but not least, it’s Katie, from Eco Vintage, who chose a bright bomber jacket. Her’s was vintage, of course, but there are some out there in the shopping malls. JOY‘s black textured version, £39,  is versatile, and H&M’s lion head version, £29.99, is bonkers. You decide!
