Day to Night Dresses

Here’s how to take a dress from morning to midnight this spring/summer. Day to night dressing is not hard – just swap out your accessories at sundown and get ready for the night ahead!

Here are six styles to choose from.

Love this yellow lace sundress from H&M (£5.99) and it could work day to night. During the day team it with a cute shell bangle (£7.99, New Look), straw bag (£14.99, H&M), clog sandals (£130, UGG @ Schuh), and some coral sunnies (£3, Claire’s Accessories).

For night, mix it up with a cute snakeprint mobile clutch purse (£7.99, H&M), killer orange heels (£34.99, New Look) and some glam diamante drop earrings (£10, The Collection @ Debenhams).

DAYTO NIGHT SIXBHS’s green crepe twist shift (£30) looks great with bright colours during the day  – team it with a bold yellow bag (£110, J by Jasper Conran @ Debenhams), contrasting stripe pumps (£tbc, Debenhams), a cute Hawaiian print watch (£60, JOY) and some big bold sunnies (£18, JOY).

Then, at night, make it monochrome and bold, with a zebra print clutch (£25, Star by Julien Macdonald @ Debenhams), some monochrome pattern courts (£tbc, Debenhams) and a pair of black drop earrings (£15, Betty Jackson Black @ Debenhams).

DAY TO NIGHT TWOIf the dress is monochrome like this jazzy stripe number from Principles by Ben De Lisi @ Debenhams (£60), then add a bit more monochrome, and maybe some print to contrast this print. Try these monochrome wooden sandals (£59.99, New Look), a wooden striped bangle (£5.99, New Look), and a bold leopard print backpack (£15.99, New Look) for a casual look.

Then, for day to night, swap put the backpack for a rose gold oversize clutch (£18, BHS), some gold earrings (£7.99, H&M), and some lipstick pink patent courts (£39, Debenhams)

DAY TO NIGHT FIVEFrench Connection’s print tunic dress (£95) looks great in the daytime with some summer boots (£59.99, New Look), cat’s eye sunnies (£5.99, New Look), and a block colour tote (£129, J by Jasper Conran @ Debenhams).

Then, come sundown, keep the look simple, but swap out the boots for some gold lace-ups (£29.99, H&M), a gorgeous crystal ring (£6.99, H&M), nose rings (£3.99 for two, H&M) and a fur clutch bag (£7.99, H&M),

DAY TO NIGHT ONEWhite Stuff’s pretty navy dress will look retro-tastic during the day with some metallic ballet pumps (£12, BHS), love heart sunglasses (£16, Floozie by FrostFrench @ Debenhams), a beautiful pastel blue bag (£19.99, New Look), and a big old floppy hat (£22, J by Jasper Conran @ Debenhams).

Then, switch it up at night, with some pretty floral high sandals (£100, French Connection), lovely jewel bangles from JOY (£12 for two), and a bold red tassel, and studded clutch (£25, Butterfly by Matthew Williamson @ Debenhams)

DAY TO NIGHT FOURLast but not least, this bold orange Bardot neckline (huge this season) orange dress from New Look (£19) looks fab during the day with matching orange tote bag (£24.99, New Look), bronze sandals (£17.99, New Look), and muted orange sunnies (£7.99, H&M).

Then at night, add some fun accessories in a pom pom necklace (£5.99, New Look), pom pom sandals (£50, Schuh), and a cute beaded clutch (£25, BHS).

Desk to Dancefloor Style

It’s party season – hooray! But sometimes it’s not so much hooray as help when it comes to what to wear. Especially when you have to, quite literally, move from desk to dancefloor.

Who wants to turn down invites at this time of year? Not us. But we don’t want to schlep from desk to the pub/club/restaurant in our work gear, and we also might not have time to do a complete outfit change.

But don’t worry, we’re here to help. Here are three solutions for that desk to dancefloor dilemma.

First up, the dress dilemma. You’re wearing a relatively understated dress to work, and you know you can wear it out that evening, but it just needs, well, glammed up a little bit. Simples!

Take this lovely blue dress (£80, French Connection) and add a few accessories that will transform it from office wear to evening wear. We’ve added fab contrasting cobalt blue fringed heels (£70, Schuh), and a navy fringed suede jacket (£120, BHS) to our dress to keep the blue theme, and then hit it with a bit of bling with H&M’s fun question mark and exclamation mark earrings (£7.99), and ‘YES’ ring (£6.99). And the finishing touch is a very festive, very bold star shaped glittery clutch from New Look (£19.99).

Desk to dancefloor dressNow, if you have to wear a black trouser suit to work, then your desk to dancefloor transformation is easy. This simple back suit (trousers, £15, jacket £30, BHS) is easily transformed.

Take off that blouse or sweater, and add in a metallic cami top (£6.99, was £12.99 H&M) for instant festive glamour. Next up, a statement necklace (£9.99, New Look) to add even more glamour – we love these fab, bold, black feathers.

Complement this with a fake fur oversized clutch bag (£70, French Connection), and keep the silver and black theme going with some lovely silver-toed courts (£24.99, New Look). Party perfection.

Take it from desk to dancefloor easily by just changing your top and shoes, and adding some accessories. We love a body, and this lace one from New Look (£14.99, was £19.99) is perfect for any party. Or maybe New Look’s ombre sequin shell top (£32.99) is even more festive? Beaded, fringed heels work (£29.99, New Look) to bring any outfit up, and a beaded clutch to match is perfect (£19.99, New Look). If you need a bigger bag, take New Look’s fake fur leopard (£34.99) to work and out – perfect desk to dancefloor accessory! Finally, a pair of drop earrings (£3.99, New Look) will never go amiss!
