It’s Easter, the clocks go forward this weekend, and that means it is most DEFINITELY time to shed that winter wardrobe for your spring summer one. Maybe keep a coat on standby, but embrace the spring summer gorgeousness that’s in the store – starting with the Debenhams SS16 collection.
We popped along to a Debenhams SS16 press show last week to have a good look at what Debenhams has to offer – and there is a LOT of it!
So, we’ve broken it down for you by designer.
Debenhams SS16 Star by Julien Macdonald collection is all about a tropical journey, from the Amazon jungle to the carnival city of Rio. So, there are hot and spicy tones, modern tropical and botanical prints, and also white, bright sequins and sparkles, like this perfect summer night combo of cigarette pants and sequin vest.
The collection by J by Jasper Conran draws on classic shapes and timeless fabrics, in combination with fashion forward geometric prints. We love this sea blue and white print coat.
At Principles by Ben de Lisi, it’s pared down style, strong geometric prints, with a monochrome background. We love this jumpsuit for its sheer simplicity.
RJR John Rocha’s Debenhams SS16 collection sees a modern style in bold florals and muted tones. It’s feminine, with layering, full of embroidery and summer lace, and other textures. This outfit of suede effect skirt, leather jacket and printed top is casual summer perfection.
Betty Jackson Black offers a soft, feminine collection – with a subtle touch of mid-century, retro glamour. The fluidity and retro vibe of this top and trousers combo is straight out of the 1940s. Beautiful prints make it a must have outfit.
H! by Henry Holland is always fun – this Debenhams SS16 doesn’t disappoint. It’s girls on a road trip to Rio. Hibiscus prints, neon jacquards, layered onto key denim pieces. We love these shorts, with this half sleeve jacket and cami.
Red Herring’s Debenhams ss16 collection is full of romantic ruffles and suede, micro florals, and everything the stylish traveller needs from denim dungarees, to bombers and mini skirts – and this fabulous ruffle top and culottes combo.
Debut has two stories this SS – Botanical Gardens, and Sugar Rush. The first is full of gorgeous botanical prints, like this prom dress, with premium fabrics, florals and lace. The latter combines tones of pink with modern fabrics and contemporary styling.
Giles/Edition brings feminine, girlie daywear to centre stage this season, with prints, leather, scallop detailing and that fabulous fluidity. This two piece is fierce yet feminine, agreed?
Finally, Preen/Edition takes direct inspiration from the designers’ mainline SS16 catwalk show. Inspired by contemporary dance, there’s romance and fun in this collection. This pop art style shirt dress is just brilliant.
