CO-ORDINATE YOUR CO-ORDINATES

We’re not talking about co-ordinates on a map, okay? Nope, we’re talking about matching clothes. Suits…of a sort. Skirts and tops that match. Trousers and tops that are, well, co-ordinated.

And wearing them together, in this brilliant trend for spring/summer, that we guess you will love or hate.

Not everyone will want to wear a floral print dress with a jacket on top. But we say why not? In for a penny, in for a pound, and all that.

That’s the point of the new co-ordinates – wear them together, bright and bold.

Polka dots, tropical prints, or abstract patterns – get the matching pair! We adore this trend the most in a midi skirt and crop top, if you can get away with it. Bold patterned trousers with a matching vest are for the brave!

Co-Ordinates Trend

Now, we’re not talking about map co-ordinates, were talking about the co-ordinates trend which is happening in fashion this season. The fashion world has come over all matchy-matchy, in this new take on the suit – matching separates in the same print, or separates designed to be worn together.

The co-ordinates trend is actually quite an easy one to get the hang of, and it can look fabulous. It also eliminates the need to think about what matches what, so that’s a bonus, no?

It’s a great trend for wedding outfits, just add a contrasting hat, bag, shoes and other accessories, and you are good to go.

The key style in this co-ordinates trend seems to be the matching skirt and short-line top trend. Great if your abs are toned, but not overly flattering for everyone else. Make sure the skirt is high-waisted, if the top is cropped.

This look works brilliantly in trousers and loose tops too. Try top and trousers in one plain colour, or a pattern for a simple daytime alternative to jeans.

Tops and slouchy trousers make this co-ordinates trend the simplest tend for the long hot summer we are hoping for. Just throw them on, add a big slouchy bag, some shades and sandals and you’re good to go.

Another trend this summer is city shorts. So combine the co-ordinates trend and the shorts trend with a cute shorts and top combo. And if they’re in a floral print that’s three trends in one!

Keep it more old-school with a matching jacket and skirt, which is essentially a suit, so a bit of cheating here. Or be brave and bold in matching monochrome striped top and bottom.
