Clinique launch new Moisture Surge CC Cream

Clinique launch the first  premium brand CC cream to hit the UK market near the end of this month –  Clinique’s Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30 Hydrating Colour Corrector, to give it it’s full name. Last year it was BB creams, this year we’ve moved up one letter, and the beauty buzz is around CC creams.

Clinique CC creamSo, what is a CC cream? Well, it stands for Colour Correction, or Complexion Correction, and like the BB cream, it originated in Japan, and is popular in Asia. Skin layering beauty routines are huge there. The more products used, the better. So, this fits in after your serum, moisturiser, eye cream, etc, and before your foundation – if you feel you need it.

The best way to explain it is to relate it to those coloured concealers you get – lilac, peach, green, and so on.  This is a sort of do-all one of those, in a much lighter, much more modern way, with new technology that allows it to be a formula you can apply over your whole face, or in parts, and a formula which utilises light to achieve effects on all sorts of skin tones.

Essentially it is a tinted primer with benefits.  So, if you have dull, ashy skin, it appears luminous and brighter; sallow, yellow skin turns into a more peachy glow; blotchy redness is neutralised. It also corrects skin imperfections.

This is part of the Clinique Moisture Surge range, so it has hydrating properties. If you want to wear it under foundation, it’s like wearing a primer that gives a little bit more.

If you want to wear it alone, it’s like wearing less than a tinted moisturiser  – or a BB cream, which are those, with benefits, essentially.  Wearing it alone is for the complexion confident – if you feel your skin can go almost bare, then this is a great product for just ‘touching up’, the imperfections, as it were.

Clinique New Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30 Hydrating Colour Corrector, £28, is at Clinique counters and clinique.co.uk, from April 26.
