Spring Beauty

Spring is in the air, don’t you think? It’s been a little bit milder this week at times, but if you can’t imagine shaking off the winter woollies yet, then how about easing yourself into spring with some new makeup? The spring collections usually hit the counters in January, which is a bit early, but perhaps now you can venture to the beauty hall and indulge in a new lipstick or eyeshadow?

Clinique’s biggest launch for spring so far is their eyeshadow version of their hugely popular Chubby Sticks. The new Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for eyes comes in 12 sweet shades, with brilliant names, like Lots O’Latte,  Curvaceous Coal,  Ample Amber,  Big Blue and Whopping Willow! The colours are cute, the formula is sheer, and buildable. They’re £16 each, just like their lip equivalent.

Estee Lauder’s spring collection is called Pretty Naughty and, according to its creator, Lauder’s Creative Makeup Director, Tom Pecheux, he wanted it to be ‘for the woman who is sexy yet romantic…it is very pastel, but also a little naughty in a gentle, discreet way.”

At the heart of the collection is a new Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette in Pretty Naughty (£35), full of pastel watercolours with a dark shimmery charcoal to offset them. If you haven’t tried their Pure Color Illumination Powder Gelée Blush (£30) yet, then try it in Tease. And look out for interesting Sheer Matte lipsticks in four shades.

Chanel see spring in muted hues as well – nudes for eyes, mixed with bold lips and nails. The Printemps Precieux de Chanel has an absolutely beautiful powder compact at its heart – the Exclusive Poudre Signee de Chanel – the Pressed Powder (£46) which has Camellias, the double C and little lipsticks embossed on the surface of it’s delicate powder, which is a pale beige, warmed by a peach note.

Over at Clarins, spring has a little more colour, and a hint of purple again in their lovely Eyeshadow Quad (£31). The new Rouge Eclat Lipsticks (£18.50) are a first for Clarins – anti-ageing lipsticks! The formula boost collagen production, and the colours are fantastic – rich and long-lasting. There are 15 shades, from nudes, to pinks to bold red.

All of the above  are available at Debenhams, and there is a 10% discount on certain beauty brands in the current new season sale at the store, which ends on Sunday, February 17.
