Get with the cape trend

There’s a bit of a cape trend this year, on the back of the 1970s trend which has been everywhere this season (although we have yet to see full 1970s style out and about on the streets, but such is the way of fashion, right?!).

So, the cape trend. Capes are gorgeous items of clothing. We embrace this cape trend, but we also know it’s quite a tough one to wear. So, here are four capes, four ways to wear them, and that means four times you’ll be rocking this cape trend.

Let’s start with a city weekend – shopping, lunch with the girls, visiting friends. Here’s the perfect cape, and how to wear it. Team your neutral cape with on-trend flared jeans, a bright bold knit, a floppy 1970s fedora, and some snakeskin boots – another big trend this season.

Swap that boring work coat for the cape trend. French Connection’s longline winter cape is fantastic. Team it with an updated work look – culottes, a high neck blouse and some patent boots.

Witch style does not have to be haggard – this is glam witch style at its very best. A gorgeous lace dress is just the perfect nod to the witching hour this Hallowe’en. Maybe a lace skirt (£15 (was £39), JOY) suits your witch style more?  Don’t forget some sparkly, glittery shoes (£22.99, New Look), and every witch has a cape, right? H&M’s textured black cape is perfect -and is £40, down from £69.99 right now.

What witch worth her salt goes out without her black cat?! Complete your witch style with this absolutely amazing fluffy black cat bag, from New Look (£19.99). Oh, and if you must add a bit of fancy dress to your look, then a subtle witches hat headband (£8, Claire’s Accessories) is more than enough!
