How often have you marvelled at the flight of birds, and wished you could just soar into the sky and fly somewhere whenever you felt like it? No? Ah well, just me then.
And this week I feel like flying somewhere warm and sunny to relieve me of the winter bug I seem to have picked up. Alas, I am confined to my bed, and just dreams of flight.
But these fantasies of flying did get me thinking about bird print. It’s a bit of a trend this spring/summer – ties in with the tropical theme that appears to be returning this year – and it’s all sorts of bird print – big, small, bright, monochrome.
I love the simplicity of a black and white bird print jersey vest (£7, Dorothy Perkins @ BHS), as much as I love the brightness of the fringed kimono and shorts combo (£55 and £40), by Butterfly by Matthew Williamson @ Debenhams.
The bold floral and bird print on deep blue is brilliant in Louche @ JOY’s tea dress (£45). And the three, simple, sequinned birds on a plain white French Connection Tee (£35) are a fun way of brightening up a classic.
More mini bird print looks great on Wallis @ BHS’s printed shirt (£32) and a pink Tee (£7) at BHS. French Connection’s Flight of Fancy cap-sleeved dress (£110) has an intricate and detailed bird print incorporating florals. H&M’s bold pastel printed crop scuba top is a sale bargain, down from £29.99 to £15, and their bird ring adds a quirky finishing touch to your bird print look. Now fly!
