Weekly Wishlist – the biker jacket

Spring might be on its way, but we all know it can take a while to arrive in Scotland. So, we need a jacket for a good few months yet, so make it a biker jacket!

Your biker jacket doesn’t have to be black anymore, it doesn’t have to be leather either. There are loads of great fakes out there, and how about one in cotton? Or a biker jacket with no sleeves? Yes? Then you will love our weekly wishlist.

Let’s start with the real leather. French Connection’s gorgeous collarless biker jacket (£295) with detail is rock chick-tastic, but with a glamorous edge. If black is for you, try H&M’s also collarless biker jacket (£149.99), which has padding detail on the arms. If you don’t want arms, JOY’s biker jacket gilet is a sale bargain at £14, reduced from £49. Dorothy Perkins faux leather classic biker jacket looks great slung over a floral dress (£36.75, BHS). At Debenhams, king of leather Todd Flynn has designed a great leather biker jacket for this Spring for Edition at Debenhams (£250)

biker jacket weekly wishlistIf you prefer not to wear black, your biker jacket of choice might be pastel. BHS’s PU grey jacket (£45) is a collarless, pretty classic design. We also love New Look’s stone jacket (£44.99) – another great looking faux leather. But if pink is your colour, RJR John Rocha’s pink leather biker (top right) is a gorgeous investment (£199, Debenhams), but if you aren’t that sure, try it in PU first – for £60 at Wallis.

Finally, forget leather and PU, and embrace H&M’s textured jersey version (£29.99) in white – perfect for late spring (and summer in Scotland!)

The biker jacket – three ways

In this little blog series, we’re going to take an Autumn Winter trend, and show you how to wear it  – three ways. This week, the biker jacket.

Three ways biker jacket

Being on trend is all very well, but getting more wear out of your on-trend piece is better. Its all about being clever with the pieces you buy, and seeing how they can be adapted for various occasions. This week, the biker jacket – for a first date, some Saturday shopping, and a glam ball or party.

This is how we would style this rock chick leather biker jacket from New Look (£59.99) for those three occasions.

1. On a First Date

Three ways first dateKeep it simple, pretty but not too pretty, girly, but with an edge, and make an impression on a first date. If you aren’t sure of your date’s height, opt for flat pumps;  if you can wear a heel, try a biker-style boot to match the biker jacket. Keep your colour palette simple, and add fun accessories as talking points!
