It’s August, and that means …Autumn Winter fashion! Yes, the shops have started to stock the first of their autumn winter collections, so we’re going to bring you a few previews this week, starting with New Look AW14.
This season’s trends include 1960s style, winter florals, a folk vibe, big, oversized coats (preferably in fake fur), fairytale style and winter pastels, as well as glittery, shimmery, sequins and more!
In the New Look AW14 collection you will see fabrics are smooth and futuristic and decoration comes in bold linear patterns, flashes of pink and bold animal prints.
There are sculpted shapes, layering and graphic black and white. Relaxed daywear sees brushed cotton-check shirting mixed with chunky knitwear and felted wool in gritty khaki tones. Outerwear is varied and stylish; chill-cheating parkas with uber-luxe furry hoods, cocoon coats in bold checks and pastels and over-sized boyfriend coats in mannish checks.
The 1960s mod vibe sees print shift dresses, simple lines, and simple patterns.
Simple plaids are a nod to the folky trend, in this New Look AW14 collection. The so-called ‘normcore’ or perfectly boring’ trend sees a lot of grey, a lot of tailoring – it’s all about wearing the most classic pieces, in the most classic way. It isn’t boring, it’s sophisticated and smart.
Evening wear in the New Look AW14 collection harks back to the late 1960s, when evening wear was THE key in your wardrobe- luxe, simple, sexy and glitzy.
Coats. If you buy one thing this autumn winter, buy a coat. New Look AW14 collection has loads of fantasic coats, in winter pastels, brushed fabrics, fake furs, and more.
Oversized knitwear is a massive autumn winter trend, for the evening and the day.Fairytale florals, rich autumnal tones make up the prettiest part of the New Look AW14 collection for me. Burnt orange, russet tones spell autumn perfectly. Big plaid coats, fur collars and scarves, and cute parkas make everything cosy!
The New Look AW14 collection will be filtering into stores from August onwards.
