Are you, like us, dreaming of foreign climes? Dreaming of heading off, leaving on that proverbial jet plane, in search of the missing sun? We’ve had enough of this poor excuse for summer. We’ve been thinking a lot about airports, and that got us to thinking about airport style.
What’s your airport style? We were reading this article in Stylist, about how to do airport style properly (ie, the way celebrities do it), and we wondered. What is airport style? Have you ever thought about this before?
We’re not sure if we have, but we are now. We’re now wondering what on earth we should be wearing in and airport, and we know that sweats/joggies/trackies/jeans are just a big fat NO!
According to Stylist, blue jeans and tan ankle boots a la Amber Valetta, Diane Kruger and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a good look. We agree, but if we’re heading somewhere warm, we reckon we’d swap our jeans for a short mini or a pair of culottes. Agreed? Add a smock style blouse, for comfort and a 1970s vibe – the only decade to channel for the rest of this year, okay?
Clockwise, from top left: Grey hat, £7.99, H&M, blouse, £29.99, H&M,cross-body satchel bag, £19.99, New Look, denim skirt, £28, H! by Henry Holland @ Debenhams, chunky ankle boots, £79.95, White Stuff, denim culottes, £24.99, New Look, high suede ankle boots, £69.99, H&M
Good advice, and advice that we all know for airport, and aeroplane dressing is layer up, take something warm, a wrap or an oversized knit that can be pulled around you when you feel the chill. And this season there are LOADS of wraps, and longline cardigans – yep, that’s the 70s thing again!
Don’t know about you, but we love a slouchy dress on our travels. Choose from bright and bold airport style with this fantastic striped maxi shirt dress from H&M, or keep it really simple with a T-shirt dress from GAP – oversized, half-sleeves, and with pockets, we adore this slouchy big T dress, in blue, black and coral. Or maybe you prefer a simple pale coral T-shirt shift?
Apparently, if you dress like Taylor Swift, with some heels, and an LBD, you’ll get an upgrade. We’re not sure if this is strictly true, but we love a bit of glam airport style, and you never know your luck!
Finally, we all love comfort in our airport style, and shoe comfort means trainers. Get to Schuh fast for these brilliantly retro Adidas Superstars (£67). And once on the plane, who cares about airport style.
Be cute when the doors are shut and the cross-checks are done with a kitty cat sleep mask (£3.99, H&M)!
