It’s the Strictly Come Dancing Final this Saturday (December 20, 630pm, BBC1), so we can expect a glittery, sparkling affair. Who cares who wins (okay, I know a lot of you do), I just want an excuse to wax lyrical about glittery and sparkly Strictly style!
Caroline Flack, Mark Wright, Simon Webbe, and Frankie Bridge will battle it out on the dancefloor. But what will they be wearing?!
Who doesn’t love the costumes on Strictly as much as the dancing? Now, we’re not suggesting you head off to a Christmas bash in an outfit made out of two pieces of sequinned fabric held together with some beading. That may not go down well with Auntie Betty on Christmas Day either…
But, why not take inspiration from Strictly, and ramp up the beading, fringing, sequins and more this festive period. If you can’t get away with it at this time of year, well, we all might as well just give up.
Here’s my Dirty Dozen (dance-inspired pun there…sorry) Strictly-inspired pieces that should waltz their way into your festive wardrobe.
First up, it’s those gorgeous green sequin trousers from French Connection that we have featured more than once before on this very blog. And they’re now reduced from £140 to £70! We must have them. Keep your strictly style casual with this brilliant sequinned RSVP sweater, also from French Connection (£90). If you want proper shimmery Strictly style, New Look’s cute little pink dress (£29.99) is perfect.
Sequinned shoes? Why not! Get Strictly style from head to toe with pink New Look sequin shoes (£24.99). But if you want things a bit more sequins-on-the-downlow sort of Strictly style, but still want to join in, then this sequin trimmed kimono from BHS (£25) is perfect.
Go all out for sequin glamour in Debut @ Debenhams full-length evening dress (£180).
It would be easy to dance the night away in H&M’s black sequin playsuit (£49.99), agreed? Or maybe a pair of cute sequin shorts (£12, H&M) and a contrasting or clashing sequin top (£115, French Connection) would be more your dancing thing?
Betty Jackson Black for Debenhams’ green pencil skirt (£85) is shimmery and sexy Strictly style. If you prefer something looser and freer, then H&M’s tunic style gold and black dress (£20.99) is it. You could easily show off your Strictly style – dance-wise – in this! Finally, we’ve come over all Flashdance with 80s inspired sparkly joggers (£29.95, GAP) – what else?!
