Pussy Bow Blouse?

Pussy Bow blouse, anyone? If you are embracing the 1970s, then you will be embracing the pussy bow blouse. This fine faashion speciment pops up now and then, and had a pretty good run from the 1970s right through to the early 1980s. Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana were fans. But don’t let that put you off.

The key to this seaosn’s pussy bow blouse is that, well, it’s not always exactly a pussy bow blouse. We’re relaxing the remit on this a little bit. We’ve found a dozen gorgeous blouses which we think fall far enough into the pussy bow remit to qualify, but are all very different in their own right.

We’ll start with a classic, pussy bow, in a beautiful autumnal orange, from Dorothy Perkins @ BHS (£20). Team this with a wide A-line skirt, in cord or denim for maximum 1970s points, or just add it to your jeans – favourite skinnies, or 1970s flares.

H&M tie neck blouseIf you want to go completely leftfield with your pussy bow interpretation, then this beautiful peachy-pink scuba big bow blouse from H&M (£29.99) isn’t quite pussy bow, but we love it. Team with a tweed skirt suit and a floppy hat for top 1970s style points.

GAP’s draped, floaty blouse (£34.95), shown in blue here, but available in four colours, is probably the least pussy bow of them all, but is a perfect casual blouse, equally at home with a pair of jeans, as an A-line skirt.

GAP drapey blouseFinally, Edition by Preen’s floral blouse at Debenhams  (£40) in the classic 1970s shades of brown and orange, ticks all the right boxes – it has gathered sleeves, drapes beautifully, has that ditsy floral print, and has a cute neck tie.
