Paisley Pattern Power

Paisley pattern is having a fashion moment again this season. The teardrop shaped print, named after the town of Paisley, thanks to the production of textiles bearing the print in the town …ooh…a long, long, time ago, is perfect for busy autumn prints.

It’s of Persian and Indian origin, and was originally produced in France, back in the 1600s! It became massively popular in the west in the 18th and 19th centuries, and, well, em, the 1970s. Yep, that decade again. It had a sort of ‘psychedelic vibe’ back then, and the Beatles were big fans. Yep, all true.

As it is, it’s a very busy print, with “hippy connotations”. We can almost smell the patchouli when we look at it!  BUT … it’s actually very pretty, very wearable, and very now. So get with the times, and get into your paisley pattern!

If you are going to embrace this trend, then embrace it full on! Hit up that paisley pattern with a pussybow collar dress from New Look (£19.99)
