Heatwave Fashion – it’s hot out there!

Well, this is more like it! We’re having a heatwave – or you could just call it a proper summer! But with the wonderful weather come a few, well, problems. What on earth do you wear in this weather? Well, we’ve come up with a guide to heatwave fashion – how to look your best and keep cool when the mercury rises!

1.Choose your fabrics carefully. Polyesters and man-made fabrics are not the best in this heat. So look for cotton, linen, light wools, or Tencell Lyocell, an eco fabric made from bamboo and the likes.

2. Keep your colours pale. If you want bright, just don’t mix with black. White reflects the heat, black absorbs it – it isn’t rocket science. Heatwave Fashion - cotton and whiteWHERE TO BUY (Clockwise, from left): Harem pant trousers, £15, BHS, white peplum top, £16.99, New Look, polka dot cotton mix skirt, £45, White Stuff, white cotton shirt tunic, £16, white floaty cami top, £15, both BHS

3. You may feel daft wearing a hat in the city, but sun on your head is not good, causing heat stroke, exhaustion and your scalp can get burned. Have you seen some tourist using umbrellas as parasols? They’re not daft. Keep the ageing and burning UVA and UVB rays from the sun off your face. Oh, and don’t forget your water -keeping rehydrated in the sun is imperative.

4. Carry a shawl or a scarf or a light knit with you to pop on when you are indoors, and the A/C is on – you don’t want to catch a summer chill. And keep shoes sensible, leather, flat and preferably sandals – let your feet breathe!
