Shearling Style

Shearling, sheepskin, pile. Call it what you want, this cosy look is perfect for autumn and winter.

First off, what is shearling? Real shearling is a skin from a recently sheared sheep or lamb that has been tanned and dressed with the wool left on. It has a suede surface on one side and a clipped fur surface on the other. Usually the suede side is worn outward.

If course, more within budget might be the artificial version. And there is plenty of it around – fake and real – this season, on everything, from traditional coats, to bags, boots and ballet pumps!

Let’s start with New Look’s two-toned coat (£54.99) – fluffy and gorgeous, it has the wool side showing reversed to the front on the bottom of the coat.

Chloe Gallagher, Senior Partnership Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “It is a sad fact that one in three of us will get cancer in our lifetime, and it is the toughest fight most of us will ever face.

“The support Macmillan receives from M&S is vital in enabling us to continue to support people affected by cancer, so that no one has to face cancer alone. Celebrating the 25th birthday of coffee morning makes this year extra special for all involved and we hope that lots of people across the nation will join us to help make this year’s event the biggest and best ever.”
